Vintage 1950s ladies grey embroidered dressy midi coat L XL

 

An authentic 1950s ladies grey occasion coat, with beautiful embroidered and embellished collar, voluminous bracelet length sleeves and a cape style. The coat fastens with three large Lucite buttons. There are two neat hip pockets. The coat is elegant and comfortable to wear. The label is “A Fifty Four Model - Fashioned to Fit”.

There is no material label – these were not a feature of pre clothing pre-1960. From touch I believe that the fabric is a wool blend. It feels hard wearing and very high quality.

The coat is fully lined in satin, the lining is in excellent condition and is fully intact with no tears or damage.

The coat is in excellent vintage condition for its age. When I was photographing it on the mannequin, I noticed a couple of faint marks to the material – these are only visible on close inspection of the fabric and I have tried to show these in the two photos. One faint mark is not visible at all when the coat is buttoned up.

A really special piece, it is getting rarer to find items of clothing like this.

I estimate this would fit a modern UK 14-16, or oversized on a size 12. See measurements below to compare with your own.
