This elegant dark blue maxi skirt exemplifies the exclusive avant-garde style of the Japanese fashion brand Comme des Garçons. This fashion label was launched by Rei Kawakubo. In 1981, she presented her clothes for the first time on the Paris catwalk. Until then, people were accustomed to fitted clothing for women. Comme des Garçons' conceptual pieces caused a veritable shockwave among the Western fashion public. Over the years, several well-known names from the Japanese fashion scene have taken up Kawakubo's baton, including Yohji Yamamoto and Kei Ninomiya.

Comme des Garçons' designs are often black and feature holes and unfinished details. Kawakubo's designs defy all clothing conventions. Jackets have three sleeves, trousers resemble skirts, and dresses feature asymmetrical billows in "inelegant" places. This beautiful skirt is considerably more wearable than Kawakubo's earlier creations, but without losing the signature Comme des Garçons DNA. The skirt is cut in the classic straight fit with a high slit. The composition of the garment is half wool and half viscose, creating a natural-looking, straight-flowing fabric with a subtle sheen. The skirt has no closure but fits snugly thanks to the gathered waist. For comfort, two side pockets have been added. 

The skirt has an inconspicuous cut at the bottom left of the front, but is otherwise in excellent condition.

Deze elegante donkerblauwe maxi rok is een voorbeeld van de exclusieve avant-garde stijl van het Japanse modemerk Comme des Garçons. Dit modelabel is gelanceerd door Rei Kawakubo. In 1981 presenteerde ze haar kleding voor het eerst op de Parijse catwalk. Tot die tijd was men gewend aan aansluitende kleding voor vrouwen. De conceptuele items van Comme des Garçons veroorzaakten een ware schokgolf bij het westerse mode publiek. In de loop der jaren hebben enkele bekende namen uit de Japanse mode-scene het stokje overgenomen van Kawakubo, waaronder Yohji Yamamoto en Kei Ninomiya.

De ontwerpen van Comme des Garçons zijn vaak zwart en voorzien van gaten en onafgewerkte details. Kawakubo’s designs tarten alle conventies van kleding. Jassen hebben drie mouwen, broeken lijken op rokken en jurken zijn voorzien van asymmetrische bollingen op ‘onelegante’ plaatsen.

Deze prachtige rok is een stuk draagbaarder dan Kawakubo’s vroegere creaties, maar zonder het kenmerkende DNA van Comme des Garçons te verliezen. De rok is gemaakt in het klassieke rechte model met hoge loopsplit. De samenstelling van het item is voor de helft wol en voor de helft viscose, dit zorgt voor een natuurlijke ogende, rechtvallende stof met een subtiele glans. De rok heeft geen sluiting maar valt aangesloten om het lichaam door de aangerimpelde taille. Ter comfort zijn er twee steekzakken aan weerszijden toegevoegd. 

De rok heeft een onopvallend sneetje linksonder aan de voorkant, maar verkeert voor de rest in uitstekende staat.
