This is reinterpretation of the infamous Tom Ford pencil skirt, with a nod to the elegance of the 1940s. Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 1971 Haute Couture collection channeled the look of that era and shocked critics and clients alike with its insistence on vintage styling. 
Today, the idea of vintage-inspired looks on the runway is commonplace, and Ford’s vision for YSL tended to fuse 90s provocative sensuality with the decadent glamour of the 1940s.
