Alexander McQueen vintage Latex ‘Lace’ Corset from SS 04 ‘Deliverance’  - NWT

From Alexander McQueen’s pivotal  Spring/Summer 2004 “Deliverance” - (my fav), this latex lace corset is a remarkable piece of fashion history. The collection, inspired by They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?, was McQueen’s powerful commentary on the glamour and exhaustion of fame, with models dancing in a dramatic, cyclical runway show. Audiences & critics alike were gagged, as were fans worldwide. It was a coming of age moment for the Brit designer.

This corset captures that same intense elegance. That potent plume of fragility & industrial severity, that only McQueen can serve so so well. Crafted from what appears to be  lace upon first glance, the shell material is actually made entirely of latex, cut masterfully & precisely to mimic thin Aleçon lace. It tacks and drapes delicately to a boned busier beneath.

This piece mirrors the collection’s themes, challenging conventional beauty and celebrating impermanence. The latex, though unworn and piece still tagged, naturally degrades over time—a detail McQueen surely intended, as if to say beauty is fleeting but impactful. It’s a relic of his DGAF willingness to reshape fashion’s relationship with both body and material.

Owning this corset is to hold a piece of McQueen’s legacy. it’s an artifact from an earth shattering moment in fashion. I’m sad to see her go.

Condition - NWT, however  as mentioned latex is a material that naturally breaks down over time, this archival piece is over 20yrs old and very delicate.  In all transparency, I had the  latex professionally and carefully treated to slow down further degradation.
