MAJOR: THE JOHN GALLIANO "FENCING" CORSET


John Galliano presented his eponymous ready to wear collection in Paris for the first time beginning with his Fall 1990 runway collection. Galliano titled collection "Fencing" and it was inspired by "biker girls." 


This off-white padded corset was inspired by the quilting found on fencing uniforms. It's piece that's designed to be worn forwards, with the lacing in the back, as a corset top or backwards as a vest.


Shoulder to shoulder ~12.5 inches. Armpit to armpit ~15 inches. Length ~11 inches (front, center). Note, all measurements are taken laid flat from the side of the garment without the lacing.


Good overall condition for the age and the material. There is a small tear to the inside lining just beneath the brand label. There is a scuff or spot on the side with the lacing (photographed) near the bottom side.


This corset is an astonishing piece of early John Galliano. It's a garment that will only appreciate in rarity and value over time.
